We install the core Transformer Engine package and assess whether the Colab environment can compile the PyTorch extension by confirming nvcc and cuDNN header availability. For compatible systems, we attempt installation of the Transformer Engine PyTorch backend and subsequently examine FP8 and BF16 hardware support. We also establish precision configurations and define autocast contexts that enable switching between conventional mixed precision and Transformer Engine execution modes.
